In the Final Weeks, Expect the Smears

As we head into the final weeks of this campaign, I want to speak openly and honestly with all of you. When a campaign runs out of ideas, there’s often one last tool it turns to: personal attacks and dirty tricks.

This isn’t new. It’s the oldest play in the political playbook. When a person or a group doesn’t have real solutions, constructive ideas, or a vision to lead, they try to distract the community with rumors and personal smears. These tactics are meant to divide us, discourage us, and take the focus off what actually matters: the future of our township.
I want you to know that I expect these tactics to appear. And I’m ready for them. I will not respond in kind. I will stay focused on ideas, solutions, and community—not gossip, lies, or personal attacks.
I also trust this community. Russell is full of thoughtful, smart, kind people who can see through cheap tricks. So when you see or hear something in the coming weeks that sounds outrageous, ask yourself: Is this about real issues—or is it just someone trying to distract me from what needs to be done in Russell Township?
We deserve better than fear and division. We deserve leadership rooted in service, honesty, and care for our neighbors. That’s what John Ishee and I have offered since day one, and that’s how we will finish this race.
Let’s keep our eyes on the future and not the mud on the ground.
